I am still missing the Maldives and would love to go back, but happy to be able to give away a trip to this wonderful paradise to one lucky couple real soon to experience this paradise for themselves as well!
In the meanwhile I have told you already about our stay at 2 amazing luxury island resorts in the northern part of the Maldives near Malé in this blog; 2 ultimate private luxury island retreats, I summed up all the wonderful things you can do here including my 5 favourite activities with many pics and a snorkeling video with abundant marine life, in this blog: Maldives marine life heaven. But I haven’t told you about our trip to the southern islands of the Maldives yet and our sea plane trip which truly was a once in a lifetime experience!
Why is that you might ask? Not because of the plane, the comfort or the flight itself..In my opinion actually quite a hassle, expensive, and can get quite hot, stuffy and a little scary, especially when to pilot is flying barefoot;)

Next to that it was a necessity to reach the last destination of our Maldives trip, which definitely made it worthwhile.
Angsana Velavaru is situated in the south part of the island group and a 45 minute sea plane flight from Malé. This second Angsana location on the Maldives bares many resemblance to our previous resort stay at Angsana Ihuru.
Except the fact that next to luxury beach villas with private pool, here they also offer 38 ocean villas including an infinity pool built directly on the Indian Ocean. For me the ultimate form of decadence!
In the Maldives ocean villas are well represented and offered by many prestigious luxury resorts, but there certainly is a difference in design, size and facilities.
We had been told by Maldives insiders that the ones at Angsana Velavaru are some of most beautiful and exceptional in design, size and setting, and I must say that I fully agree. But don't take my word for it, let me show you through many of my own pics, and a few of the hotels, while naming the most unique features of this Angsana resort.

Unique features Angsana Velavaru
We stayed for a few nights in the deluxe beachfront pool villa, as well as the InOcean villa and both are very different, but excellent. Although we loved the secluded private pool surrounded by palm trees and private beach access of our beachfront pool villa, the InOcean villa is quite spectacular as well.
For us a stay at the InOcean villa was a must, but is of course a bit more expensive, so a combination of both was the perfect solution. Also one of the best sold offers on the resort's website, which you can find here; Angsana Velavaru, see for yourself why in this gallery:
There are several beach villas to choose from and we stayed at the deluxe beachfront pool villa where we had breakfast served in front of the villa every day with direct beach views.
This classy beach hut with natural roofing has a king-size bed, flatscreen TV, colorful interior, a big garden with plenty of seating options and private beach access where baby reef sharks were swimming by all day.
Next to that we even had our own private pool at the back of the villa surrounded by palm trees.
Our 175 m2 InOcean villa on the other hand was even more spacious with its own living room, bedroom, and bathroom with a sink-in bathtub with uninterrupted ocean views.
The design of these villas are truly on point with one of the largest outdoor decks we ever saw, with plenty of seating options, a hammock hanging above the ocean next to the 21 m2 infinity pool, and a very spacious rooftop terrace.
And as we stayed in a sunset pool villa with sala we even had our own pier with ocean pavilion at the end and stunning sunsets every night which looked like this:
Because the InOcean villas are completely detached from the main island and therefore a bit secluded, they conveniently have their own Italian restaurant which is highly recommended!
Next to this there's also a restaurant on the island which has stunning sunset dinners served on the beach every night and a variety of cocktails and live music at the beach bar.
An hourly complementary shuttle boat goes to and from the villas to the island and back every hour.
I can go on and on about the Maldives and Angsana Velavaru, which is surrounded by beautiful islands, some of which deserted, and perfect for a romantic cast away dinner or lunch. Easy to explore by jet-ski, canoeing or through any other forms of watersports offered here.
And of course this is also the perfect place for diving, snorkeling, or even to get married, as they also have a stunning wedding pavilion here in this ultimate romantic paradise!
